Biography

Marina Davydova is a Senior Researcher at the Laboratory of Physical Foundation of Strength of Institute of Continuous Media Mechanics Ural Branch Russian Academy of Science. She received a Ph.D. (“Structural-kinetic simulation of the fracture of composite materials”) in 1988 in Mechanics of Solids from the Institute of Continuous Media Mechanics (ICMM), Perm, Russia. More than thirty years she works at the ICMM. First her works were devoted to the simulation of fracture of heterogeneous brittle materials, then her researches focused on the application of fractal theory for the characteristic of fracture process. Following research developments included experimental and theoretical study of fragmentation of brittle material such as glass, quartz, ceramic, granite. Her resent researches involve the study of influence of ceramic structure on fragmentation. She is the author and co-author of around 30 publications on materials science in indexed journals.

Research Interest

Brittle fracture, Fragmentation, Glass, Quartz, Ceramics.
